Function & technical information

The camshaft variator adjusts the camshaft timing depending on engine speed and load. This can improve torque delivery in the lower and mid-range RPMs and contribute to smoother engine performance. Operation is hydraulically controlled via the engine oil system.

Important oil specification

The camshaft variator must be used exclusively with fully synthetic 10W40 engine oil. Incorrect oil viscosity or contaminated oil may cause malfunctions, abnormal noise or premature wear.

• Rattling or knocking noises, especially during cold start
• Rough idle or reduced engine performance
• Delayed throttle response
