The engines of the Alfa Romeo cars built from 1947 until 1981 turned on once again for the fourth seasonal race at the Misano World Circuit - Marco Simoncelli. The last 12-13 of July twenty-four cars joined the circuit and immediately started the free practice sessions where, unfortunately, the Oliva's GTAM suffered an engine failure that prevented him from taking part in the race. Saturday morning, after safely escaping a rain thunderstorm, twenty-three cars were ready for the official qualifications in order to reach the first place in the starting grid with the fastest lap. The coveted pole position was for the first time in his driver's career achieved by Davide Bertinelli in his GTAM number 87, and behind the young Milan driver the Austrian Grohmann and Arnaldi, respectively second and third in the starting grid. Next to Arnaldi the new seasonal entry car of Albert Weinzierl completed the second row. Fifth position for the German Mathias Körber followed by the young Marco Guerra, who had some technical difficulties during the qualification session. Fourth row for the experienced duo Serio-Della Noce, who improved their position compared to Monza's race, and for the couple Guerra-Mischis in the GTA number 16. The next row spoke German with the cars of Ondrak and the Winkler’s father and son. Behind, in just a few hundredths of seconds,theMazzuoli-Bigliazzi's AlfettaGTV6 followed by the GTA number 27 of Jurgen Ludwig. The two GTAMs of Giovannini and Slama occupied the seventh raw, while the couple De Beaumont-Di Iorio and Luigi Mercatali’s GT Veloce composed the eighth row. Fabio Gimignani was 17thfollowed by the inseparable duo Silvestrini-Bensi. The rare Giulietta SZ2, driven by Fabian Körber, earned the tenth row side by side with Zadotti-Ramacciotti's Giulia Super. The Giulietta Spider Veloce of the Raimondi’s father and son, and the two Giulietta Ti driven by Milla-Chersevani and the Morteo brothers closed the last grid positions. After the qualification session there was an air of good suspense in the paddock, the fourth Alfa Revival Cup seasonal race was going to start soon and the drivers were looking forward to be on track. At 5.28pm, the red flag turned off and the sound of Alfa Romeo's cars echoed all over the Misano's circuit. The race started immediately with a car stopped at first lap, the Arnaldi's one, which could not continue the race and engaged a Full Course Yellow procedure. During the recovering time of the Arnaldi's car, Marco Guerra on his GTAM number 88 passed the car of Serio-Della Noce and received a Drive Through penalty which was regularly discounted. The cars started to battle again and after few minutes the GTV 2000 Group 5 of the duo De Beaumont - Di Iorio had to leave the race with an engine failure. It was a very unlucky race for the young Marco Guerra who was forced to stop at the seventh lap due to the same technical problems suffered during the morning qualification session. The head of the race seemed to shaping up with Bertinelli firmly in first position, followed by Grohmann and Weinzierl, who was a feared driver despite his first appearance in the competition. After twenty minutes, the pit window opened for the mandatory stop and the cars started to enter into the pits for the drivers change. After the mandatory stop, the GTV 2000 of Gimignani started to lose fluid on track and the race direction, for the safety of drivers and to avoid the Monza early race interruption, ensured that the nature of this fluid was just water and the race continued without danger. The duo Mazzuoli-Bigliazzi kept the fourth position for half race, but because of several nose-to-tails dropped in tenth position. At the 18thlap, Grohmann's GTAM realized the fastest lap of the race, but also this was not enough to reach Bertinelli, who was leading an excellent race. On the sidelines, the battle for the first place in the performance indexclassification was getting very hot, with the duo Milla- Chersevani against the Morteo’s brothers, and with an eye on the couple Guerra-Mischis, who was getting pretty close to the top. Only five minutes before the end and again Bertinelliwas the leader followed by Grohmann and Weinzierl; behind Mathias Körber and in fifth position Serio-Della Noce. The fourth race of the Alfa Revival Cup closed with the triumph of the young Bertinelli in front of the Austrian Grohmann and the German Weinzierl. Not only there was a new winner of the race, but also an upturning in the overall classification, where the couple Guerra-Mischis reached 66 points climbing over the Morteo’s brothers, now at 64 points. The Florentine Luigi Mercatali at 60 points is now firmly at the third place. The Alfa Revival Cup closes for holidays and send its drivers and cars to rest waiting for the last two races of the season. The next appointment is fixed on September 29that Varano de Melegari circuit, where there will also be another new starting grid, the Alfa Young Timer, dedicated to all the Alfa Romeo's car built after 1982.
