The Imola racetrack dedicated to "Enzo and Dino Ferrari" has hosted the last May 25th the second of the six scheduled rounds for the eighth season of the Alfa Revival Cup. For the series, dedicated to Alfa Romeo built from 1947 till 1981, thirty-six cars joined the circuit and took part to the free practice sessions scheduled on Friday. Some complications for the GTAM of Slama that did not lose hope and, thanks to the availability of some oppositedrivers who helped him with the required spare parts, repaired the engine damage. Same fate for Lonardi-Raimondi this time on the track with a Giulietta Spider Veloce. The qualifying session took place on Saturday morning. The engines rumbled in the paddock until 11:15, the official pit lane opening time. Right at the end of the session, when most of the cars had already seen the checkered flag, Arnaldi got the pole position with a second of gap on the Austrian Grohmann. The second row in the starting grid went to Körber and Luccioni. In the third row Mazzuoli-Bigliazzi and Bertinelli. Good qualifying session for Marco Guerra who got the fourth row next to Giovannini-Grazioli of GTM Motorsport. Just behind them the first 1600 cc engine car, the Giulia Sprint GTA of Guerra-Mischis, surrounded by the large GTAMs group. Fourteenth time for the GTA 1300 Junior of Ondrak. In the class of GT Veloce 2000 Turismo di Serie the pole went to the Tuscans Mercatali, who started very close to their opponents Bensi-Mosca, Fabbrini and Silvestrini. The time passed quickly into the paddock of one of the most famous circuits in the world. The race starting time was approaching and the drivers began to prepare themselves and their cars. The pit lane was opened and the cars lined up in the starting grid.At 16:53 on Saturday afternoon, the red lights switched off leaving the start of the 60 minute race. The drivers were immediately fierce and the first contact occurred between the two GTAM of Oliva and Scalini at the “Acque Minerali” turn. Both cars went off the track and were forced to retire.At the end of the race, the Clerk of the Course Massimiliano Ghinassi judged the Oliva overtaking maneuver irregular and inflicted the relegation of five positions in the starting grid during the next race of the series. The race time continued and the Safety Car was deployed to allow the marshals to clearthe track. Two laps later the Safety Car gave space to a new start. Arnaldi was able to maintain the first position for the whole race with his GTAM Group 5. After the first part of the race, the Austrian Grohmann on GTAM got and maintained the second step of the overall podium. Third was the friend and team mate Körber. A deserved fourth place overall, third in the GTAM class, for the young driver Guerra. Fifth car at the finish line the Alfetta GTV6 of Mazzuoli-Bigliazzi. Followed the GTAM of the Crescenti brothers and the German Ficht. Eighth overall Ondrak on a GTA 1300 Juniorand in the same class Buratti-Bettati finished thirteenth overall. For the FTC1600 class the first classified, as well as ninth overall, was Ludwig. On the second step the duo Guerra-Mischis and then Fabian Körber and Liberatore-Ramacciotti. Twelfth overall position for the Serio-Della Noce couple with the Giulia Sprint GTA Group 4.The race became interesting among the GT Veloce 2000 Turismo di Serie. The podium and the relative points for the seasonal classification went once again to the Mercatali father-son. The other positions were very tight. Excellent start of Bensi who left the steering wheel to Mosca. The journalist-driver of the Motorstyle TV started the come backto regain the lost time during the pit stop. The duo finished the race in second position in their class. Third Lastrucci, which took more and more confidence with the Scuderia Biondetti car. Good first experience on board of an historic car for Silvestrini that in the last laps lost positions due to the contact with Fabbrini. The last one wasat the end penalized with twenty-five seconds, which saw him retroceding into fifth position, leaving space again to Silvestrini. It was a real battle for the seasonal classification among the most historic cars that, thanks to the historicity coefficient, can earn more scores. Among the Giulietta, once again, the Morteo brothers won on Milla, for this round in couple with Gilles Giovannini. Unfortunately, the Tuscan Bambiwas forced to stop due to the gearbox breakdown. Among the Spider Veloce, gold medal for the Raimondi father-son; with a similar car Lonardi-Raimondi once again had to stop with an engine problem. Gearbox problem also stopped the "younger" cars, including the Cassetti Burchi-Galli Alfetta GT America. Updated the scores of the overall classification of the Alfa Revival Cup 2019, the head remains to the Morteo brothers who take advantage of four important points on Guerra-Mischis with 32. Changing of guard in the third place that is currently assigned to Grohmann with 31 points. The gaps are minimal in the positions that follow, reason why each participation and each result achieved is fundamental. All that remains is to meet at the third round of the season, in just over two weeks on the demanding national circuit of Monza. The provisional timetable is already online and sees a Friday full of free practice sessions, while the qualifying and race will take place on Saturday June 15th.
