The fourth round of the season for the series dedicated to the Alfa Romeo built from 1947 till 1981 has just ended. The fifty enthusiastic drivers who run on track with thirty-four Alfa Romeo faced on with the famous turns and straights of the Eni Monza Circuit in a hot and full of events weekend. The three free practice sessions available on Friday and a fourth on Saturday morning tested the preparation of the cars right from the start of the weekend. The first to suffer engine problems was the 1958 Giulietta Ti of Bambi, a young driver used to uphill races and at the first participation in the series. Problems also for the French Robert who, thanks to the appreciate collaboration of the other Italian opponents/friends, managed to find the spare parts useful to fix the car in time for the qualifying session scheduled at 11.20 on Saturday morning. Despite this luck didn't seem to be on his side and, after only one lap in that session, his car was again stopped due to engine break. Weekend finished too soon for him and his GT Veloce 2000 in Martini Racing livery. Different fate for the GTAMs, that seem to be always more and more competitive. Pole position for the preparer Monguzzi, with a second and seven tenths of advantage on the Austrian Grohmann. Second row earned for Zamuner-Restelli and Giudice followed by the other cars of the same class. Sixth row instead for the first cars of the lower category in terms of engine capacity, the Giulia Sprint GTA Group 4 of Chiaramonte Bordonaro-Guastella and the Giulia Sprint GTA 1600 of the German Ludwig. Just behind them the friends Raveglia-Corti who returned to participate in the Alfa Revival Cup with the usual GTV 2000 but in a new Group 5 version. Eighth row for the GTA 1300 Junior of Christian Ondrak. The first GT Veloce 2000 Turismo di Serie started exactly in the eighteenth position, with Mercatali, behind him the team mate Gimignani and the other cars of the same class Oliva-Magonio, Fabbrini and Bergamaschi-Caprotti. After the culinary appointment of the Saturday night barbecue organized in collaboration with the sponsor OKP, a moment that always meet up and reconciles the minds of the gentlemen drivers, on Sunday, at 10.10 am the most awaited sixty minutes of the weekend finally started. Excellent start for Facetti, who immediately left the sixth place for gaining the second position behind Monguzzi, who managed to lengthen and maintain his first position until the end of the race. In third position till about half race Grohmann, looking for important points for the seasonal classification. More fight for the positions in the rear, numerous overtaking between the GTAMs of Zamuner, Giudice and Körber. Not so far also Lelli, Scalini and Chiaramonte Bordonaro fought for the seventh place. Twenty minutes late it was time for the opening of the drivers change pit window, or mandatory pit stop for those who choose not to share the car. Lots of traffic in the pit lane. Grohmann came in pit and the OKP Alfa Delta Racing Team mechanics detected an important oil leak from his GTAM engine that forced the driver to give up from the race. Also Bertinelli in tenth position was forced to stop with a gearbox problem. Only ten minutes to the end of the race when Giudice, in fourth overall position, lost the control of the car slipping on oil and left the track. The protagonist of the weekend was undoubtedly Monguzzi. Second place for Facetti. At the third step of the overall podium, as well as the class, the friends Zamuner-Restelli. Fourth position for Körber, followed by Scalini and the father-son Lelli. Seventh overall position for the 1600 of Chiaramonte Bordonaro for this race with Guastella. The Performance Index Classification podium was achieved by the three Giulietta Ti, first place for the Morteo brothers, seconds Milla-Giovannini, third the Tuscan Bambi of the Scuderia Biondetti. This podium also reflected the class classification of the most historic cars. Among the cars of the period F excellent race for the Giulia Sprint GTA of Ludwig, first in class and ninth overall. Beautiful race for Fabian Körber, classified second in class. The Brazilian Frederico Della Noce, at the first participation in the series, moved back in third position due to one lap penalty for failing to respect the pit stop time window. At the foot of the podium the lady driver Evelin Ludwig, also with the same penalty. Serio was forced to stop at the eight lap with serious damage to the Giulia Sprint GTA engine managed by Team Carrera. Withdrawal also for the Ondrak’s GTA 1300 Junior due to the breakdown of the distributor cap. Among the GT Veloce 2000 Turismo di Serie, Mercatali maintained the head of the class for the whole race. To get the second step of the podium, just one lap from the end of the race, was Fabbrini. In third position the couple Bergamaschi-Caprotti. At the foot of the podium class Lonardi-Mosca. Unlucky race for the couple Oliva-Magonio who, in order to avoid a contact with Cassetti Burchi, left the track at the Prima Variante suffering damage to the oil sump that forced them to withdraw. Same fate for Gimignani for the break of a water sleeve. Satisfactory race for Simoncini-Adesso with the GT 1600 Junior. Among the Group 5 cars excellent placement of Corti-Raveglia, tenths overall and first in class. Second the De Beaumont father-son. Cassetti Burchi, with his Alfetta GT America, took home a twelfth place overall after the problems to the head gasket had suffered during the qualifying session. Considering the lack of some drivers at the top and various twists, the situation of the seasonal overall classification of the Alfa Revival Cup 2018, drafted on the basis of the Performance Index Classification, is now remixed. The Tuscan Mercatali rises up to the top with 60 points. With 50 points, in second place, the twenty-one years old Fabian Körber, who, thanks to the excellent placement got in Monza overrides his class rival Rizzo now in third position with 47 points. At the foot of the podium many cars with only a few points of gap, that is a symptom of a still open classification, which we hope will be a good excuse to see a more than ever crowded starting grid at the next race of the Alfa Revival Cup scheduled for next September 15-16 at the "Enzo e Dino Ferrari" in Imola.
