The Misano World Circuit has hosted on May 5-6 the second round of the Alfa Revival Cup 2018. On Friday three free practice sessions allowed the drivers to test the circuit of Rimini despite the very unstable weather situation. Unlucky day for Mazzuoli-Bigliazzi who suffered the breakdown of the car, but their great passion and the help of competent friends-mechanics allowed them to work until late night to fix it and take part in the race. On Saturday at 9.35 am thirty-one Alfa Romeo cars built between 1947 and 1981 were ready to enter the track for the very important session of qualifying. Pole position for Arnaldi with GTAM Gr.5, in front of the Austrian Grohmann with the OKP Alfa Delta Racing Team GTAM. Second row achieved by the GTAM of Bensi and Tassi-Tarabini. Fifth position for the Alfetta GTV of Mazzuoli-Bigliazzi. Tenth place for the Giulia Sprint GTA Gr.4 of the Sicilians Chiaramonte-Barraco. Seventh row for the Swiss Erlich with his Giulia Sprint GTA 1600, first car of the FIA period F. The first of the GT Veloce 2000 Turismo di Serie on grid was Mercatali’s who started in eleventh row. Just behind him the class opponents Oliva-Magonio and Liberatore-Zadotti. Only three laps for the German Wunderlich with the GTAM, which suffered the breaking of the distributor shaft. Unfortunately the damage didn't allow him to take part to the race. Definitive stop also for the Florentine Gimignani for engine damage. The start of the sixty minutes of the race remained scheduled for the afternoon at 6.25 pm. The cars were aggressive already from the first corners, a contact between Bartolucci and Scalini pushed the latter out creating confusion on track. The GTAM number 96 of Scalini was still able to rejoin the race and proceeded with an excellent comeback that led him to the eleventh overall position. Great fight in the first positions with many aggressive overtaking between Arnaldi and the GTAM behind him. The cars of the first group maintained high levels of competition until the end of the sixty minutes. Only three laps for the German Ficht, forced to return to the pits due to an engine problem. Good laps also for Tassi-Tarabini, unfortunately forced to stop, a few laps after the drivers' change, for a supposed problem to the water temperature instrument. Once the drivers changes or mandatory pit stop window was closed some penalties were applied by the Race Direction for not complying with the minimum stop time required. Erlich, Oliva and Bensi the offenders who had to pay with precious seconds added in their classification. To get the first position at the end of the race was the driver from Savona Arnaldi with only twenty seconds of distance on the Austrian Grohmann, second overall and first of class. Third step of the overall podium for Bensi who lead an excellent race with great determination even though he had to manage the breakdown of the second gear at the fourth laps. Fourth overall, third in the GTAM class, the German Körber. Fifth place for the Lelli, who at the end of the race got 25 seconds of penalty for a breach of the technical regulation concerning radio communications. A great sixth place for the Austrian Winkler, father and son, despite an unsatisfactory start. Seventh place overall for Chiaramonte-Barraco, the first 1600 cylinder capacity cars. The young Bertinelli finished the race ninth overall, leading a good second part of the race till the contact with the GTA 1300 of Ondrak, tenth overall, which gave him 25 seconds of penalty. A great fight for the podium between the cars of the FIA period F, where had the best the Giulia Sprint GTA of Erlich. Behind him Ambrosi-Serio and Rizzo both on GTA 1600. Fourth place for the young Körber with the Giulia Ti Super, in front of the driver from Argentina Sucari on Giulia Ti. A flawless first part of the race for the Alfetta GTV6 of Bigliazzi, who was fighting for the podium, but leaving the car without brakes in the hands of Mazzuoli; the duo from Siena finished the race sixteenth overall. Eighteenth place for the Giulia Sprint GT Veloce of Petrone-Barri of the Scuderia del Portello. Several overtaking among the GT Veloce 2000 Turismo di Serie but after the sixty minutes of the race Mercatali was in first position in front of Oliva-Magonio and Grassetto-Adesso. Fourth position in class for Liberatore-Zadotti who, just a few minutes from the end, run out of fuel on track, seeing the third step of the podium vanish. As for the Performance Index Overall Classification on the first step of the podium the beautiful Giulietta Ti 1300 of the Roman Milla, second the Giulia Sprint GTA 1600 of the Swiss Erlich and, in third place with the same car, Ambrosi-Serio. The overall classification of the Alfa Revival Cup 2018 takes into account the characteristics of the cars through the historicity coefficient and is drafted on the basis of the Performance Index Overall Classification. The ranking, updated with the second race results, shows first Erlich with 32 points, at the second place Rizzo and Mercatali, both with 30 points. Third place, with only one point of gap, the Austrian Grohmann. But the new scores allocation leaves no space for pre-race strategies and calculations and so the participation to each race weekend combined with a great preparation of the race car are therefore essential to get points necessary to climb the ranking of the Alfa Revival Cup 2018. For these reasons it is important not to miss the third of the six scheduled appointments that will take place, after three seasons of absence for the series, the next June 2nd on the Roman track of Vallelunga "Piero Taruffi", located in Campagnano nearby Rome.
